Ans: Regression testing is performing tests to ensure that modifications to a module or system do not have a negative effect on previous release. Retesting is merely running same testing again.

Ans: The main purpose of testing process is to verify that input data produces anticipated output.

Ans: Sanity testing is similar to smoke testing. It is initial testing of a component or application that is done to make sure that it is functions at most basic level and it is stable enough to continue more detailed testing.

Ans: Quality assurance and testing is not the same whereas, testing is considered to be a subset of QA. In organization QA is incorporated throughout the development life cycle whereas testing is one of the phases in software development cycle.

Ans: The build number is usually of the format major.minor.patch.build. Major and minor revision numbers are generally decided by the product marketing team. The patch and build numbers are generally used by the engineering team to identify the product.

It is simple two step process

Step1: Copy the application under the webapps folder which is present in the apache installation path.

Step2: Create DSN for the database.

 Build is deployed by build engineer and I have not been involved in build deployment. However I have an idea ion how to deploy build in Apache Tomcat.

 Build can be in many formats like zip, jar and setup.

Though compilation of the source code is one of the critical parts of the build creation process, the build process involves many other activities like linking external libraries, and creating ready to deploy or release package.
